JULY 7, 2024 -- We held the first Grange fair of the season on Saturday, June 8th from 10:00-3:00pm. Our Grange members ALWAYS pull together to plan, organize, set up, host, hand out prize ribbons and cash awards, and clean up after the fair. Whatever is needed, someone is there to take it on with no complaints. Everyone pitches in. We had the BEST weather and all that attended enjoyed themselves. Highlights of this year’s fair were our contests, demonstrations by a local line dancing group, school aged ballet, jazz and tap dancers, an Irish step dancing group, a fencing demonstration from our very own Simsbury high school, a Master Gardener table, our public library table to promote summer reading, local garden groups, local farm store displays, a sustainability table, children’s activities, baked goods, crockpot food options, and Out the Boxx live band.
We held a Grange meeting on Thursday, June 13th to go over what went well this year and brainstormed ways to increase the number of contest entries for next year’s fair on Saturday, June 14th. We also discussed possible resolutions to forward at the state meeting in the fall. We would love to learn what you do at your fair so we may be calling!
