Around The Grange
From the State Secretary: State Session Planning in Full Swing

By Todd A. Gelineau, CT State Grange Secretary

  JULY 2, 2024 --

With July 4th behind us, the rest of the summer will speed by. This means the 140th Annual Session of the Connecticut State Grange is coming up fast.

In this issue, I have included all of the information you need to make your room reservations and to secure your convention registrations for this year.

The deadline for reserving rooms is a bit earlier this year. Please make sure you have made your reservations with the Holiday Inn by September 16, 2024. Try not to put it off and make your reservations as early as possible to ensure room availability. We have a block of rooms reserved but there is no guarantee that block can be increased due to the popularity of this hotel in its proximity to the

casinos. Be sure to mention you are reserving under the Connecticut State Grange block when you reserve your room. Rates remain the same at $109.00 plus tax for Thursday evening and $129.00 plus tax for Friday and Saturday evening. Please keep in mind this year is a full election year. The Installation of Officers will be held on Saturday afternoon after the closing of the business session. If you need to change for the Installation, you may want the additional room night.

Registration and banquet prices will remain the same this year. This year we are featuring brand new menus for all meal functions.

The Banquet selections are listed on the form included in this issue. The luncheons are not listed on the form as all members and guests registered for the session automatically receive the luncheon for that day.

Friday’s luncheon will feature: Classic Deli Lunch of Caesar salad, soup dujour, meats, cheeses and fixings for sandwiches, red bliss potato salad, pasta salad, assorted chips and condiments and freshly baked cookies and brownies.

Saturday’s luncheon will feature: Hot Lunch Buffet of Caesar salad, minestrone soup, chicken marsala, meat lasagna, penne pasta with marinara, Chef’s choice of vegetable, Tiramisu and Cannoli for dessert.

Continental Breakfast will continue to be served on Friday and Saturday morning with the same offerings.

We hope you will make every effort to take part in the 140th Annual Session of the Connecticut State Grange. All Granges should be represented with delegates. Credentials and session information will be sent out to Granges in the coming weeks.

In an effort to make the Session enjoyable for all, please let me know if you have suggestions for improving the Convention. While we may not be able to act on every suggestion, your input will be appreciated. Feel free to email me at: Secretary@CTStateGrange.org.

State Session is not just for Delegates. All members are encouraged to attend all or part of the Session, even if it’s just for the opening session on Thursday evening.

Granges should be working on resolutions. Please keep in mind the deadline for submitting Resolutions is September 15. This is also the deadline for submitting resolutions that propose changes to the State Grange By-Laws. Resolutions must be adopted by a Grange to be considered at State Session.
