Around The Grange
Jan News from Wallingford Grange No. 33

By Ailie McKeen

  JANUARY 8, 2024 --

Jan. 11: North American Model of Wildlife Conservation

Jan. 13: Chase away the winter blues with a hot meatball sandwich! Noon to 2 pm.

Jan. 15: Fair committee meetings resume

Feb. 8: Meeting: Assembling birthday cake kits for Master’s Manna Food Pantry. Bring donations of cake mix, frosting, candles, etc.

The big news around Wallingford is our lovely and watertight new roof! We’re quite excited to have the heat turned on for the first time in 3 years, so we will continue to meet at the Hall throughout the winter.

In December, we made and donated a decorated Christmas tree to the Coalition for a Better Wallingford’s Festival of Trees. Several members hand-made ornaments and accessories for the Gingerbread-themed tree. The Coalition raffles off the trees to support their substance abuse awareness and reduction programs. Likewise in December, we hosted a local Boy Scout troop’s wreath sale on our front lawn, and we held a bake sale in conjunction. The December meeting, we had a cookie swap.

Lecturer Kathy Bergonzi has planned a Scavenger Hunt for January, in addition to the regular meeting program. I don’t have details yet, but they’ll be announced on our Facebook page. Speaking of Facebook, we also have a group (Grange No 33 Wallingford) and we have several chat groups on WhatsAp for communication between members.

Our meetings are on second Thursdays at 6:30 pm, and everyone is welcome. There is invariably a country store and we always have nice items. The Meatball Sandwich Lunch is open to the public, $10 for the sandwich, a bag of chips, and beverage of choice. Conversation is included free of charge. We’d love to see you.
