JUNE 1, 2023 -- It’s hard to believe Spring is behind us as we journey into summer. The State Grange Lecturer’s Dept. partnered with the State Grange Legislative Committee to present the online seminar “The Grange Resolution Process and YOU!” Our guest speaker was Vince Scholten, VP and Director of Agric. for the CA State Grange. State Leg. Director Noel Miller provided an overview of the resolution process. Vince then gave his presentation on how to write impactful resolutions. Attendees came from as far as Idaho (and Calif.). A recording of the online seminar was made and can be found on YouTube by searching for the CT State Grange channel. Now is the time for your Grange to develop resolutions. This might make a great Lecturer’s program or separate event for your Grange.
Speaking of YouTube, only twenty-two individuals are subscribed to this valuable resource featuring State Grange material. I encourage all members to subscribe for FREE to
this resource. Just go to YouTube, search for Connecticut State Grange, and then click “subscribe.”
Following the success of this webinar, the Lecturer’s Dept., with the National Grange Policy Comm. on Hemp & Cannabis will host a webinar entitled, “Just the Facts: Hemp & Cannabis” on Sunday, June 11 at 7:00 P.M. This event is open to all Grange members. You do not have to be a CT member to attend. We just ask you RSVP to Dave Roberts at either 860-469-5067 or GranbyDavidRoberts@gmail.com.
Join us to learn the truth about Hemp & Cannabis and the history behind it, including its various agricultural products and uses. Vince Scholten will again be our guest as he is a member of the National Grange Policy Comm. on Hemp & Cannabis.
At the encouragement of State Youth Dir. Dawn Anstett, we have created a CT State Grange team to participate in the June 3 Walk4Hearing (Hearing Loss Assoc. of America) fundraiser at Dunkin’ Park in Hartford. I encourage you to walk with my family and me around the bases at Dunkin’ Park and help raise funds for the American School for the Deaf, the oldest such school in the U.S.
We plan to meet at 9:00 A.M. on the field at Dunkin’ Park and walk together wearing Grange logo items and I hope to have some Grange signs too. We invite you to support this project by walking or donating to this nationwide campaign. To register or donate, visit our team page at www.walk4hearing.org . For more info contact me at the contact info listed earlier in this column.
