From The Lecturer's Desk
Lecturer's Corner - July/August 2009

By Marge Bernhardt, State Lecturer/Program Director

  JULY/AUGUST 2009 --

The Grange Photo Contest will be judged at Good Will Grange Hall on July 25th.  Any photo (Black & White, Digital or film) are eligible.  There are five categories – America The Beautiful, Animals, Grangers in Action, Family Celebrations and Historic Places or Events.  A backing is required on all photos, but this can be poster board or construction paper if you don’t have any photo mounts.  No glass is allowed.  Each person can enter one photo in each category for a total of five pictures per person.   Junior Entries are judged separately.  The Junior Judging is also open to children and grandchildren of members up to 14 years of age. Why not use this contest to get your family interested in the Grange?  Complete rules appear in the Bluebook, or you can get a copy from your Lecturer.

Photos may be mailed to me ahead of time, or may be brought to the hall on July 25th between 9:00 and 10:00 a.m.  Take time to show off your work.  Then return at 2:00 p.m. for the program and the results.  Be proud of your work and celebrate with us your success.

For those planning to stay in the area for the day, the Junior Department will be selling soup, sandwiches and etc. at noontime.

By the time you read this, you should have received your packet for the 2010 Grange year.  If not, contact your Pomona Lecturer.  And, when you plan your programs for next year, think big.  Remember programs should be between 30 and 60 minutes long.  Plan ahead, and give your people a good reason to come to Grange meetings.

Don’t forget to send in your registration forms for Lecturers Conference.  It will be held August 3 – 6 at Bridgewater State College, Bridgewater, Mass.   July 10 is the cut-off date and it will be strictly enforced this year.  See you around the State.
