NOVEMBER 2007 --
The 123rd. Annual session of the Connecticut State Grange is completed. There will be some information about it in this edition. Now our work for the coming year begins.
I want to set the date for the Pink Sash meeting on Saturday, November 24, 2007 at Good Will Grange Hall. Deputies, Jr. Deputies and Committees will meet from Noon until 2:00. A Potluck meal will be held no later than 2:30 with 2:00. A Potluck meal will be held no later than 2:30 with ng all committee directors should make plans with their committee members for the years activities so they can be finalized at the Pink Sash meeting. We want to get the information to the printer for the Blue Book as soon as possible.
I had the plethe pleasure , on October 6, to represent the Connecticut State Grange at the re-dedication ceremony of a section of route 10 from the Plainville line to the Cheshire line, as the Louis G. Tolles Memorial Highway. I’m sure most of you know who Louis G. Tolles was. For those of you who do not, he was the fourteenth Master of the Connecticut State Grange from 1930 to 1933. He is most noted for founding the “Connecticut Rural Roads Improvement Association” which is better known as Getting Connecticut Out Of The Mud. It was a great dedication ceremony and I’m sure you will read more about it in another section. Our State Historian, Edith Schoell, can supply you with more information about Louis G. Tolles.
Sister Marge and I will be getting ready soon for our tr our trip to Reno, Nevada and the 141st. Annual Session of the National Grange. We won’t be freshmen this year and we will know our way around better. I will present the resolutions from Connecticut and will try to get a favorable response for them. We will do our best on the committees we are assigned to. It is our pleasure to be representing the Connecticut State Grange.
