National Grange Releases Statements re: Ag Committee, Reid

By National Grange Press Release (1/25/13)

  JANUARY 29, 2013 --

On Friday, January 25, the National Grange released statements about both the announcement of new House and Senate Agriculture Committee Members and Senator Harry Reid's assertion that the Farm Bill is a top priority for the new Congress.

"We at the National Grange would like to welcome the new members of both the House and Senate Agriculture Committees. We look forward to working with all of them over the next few years to ensure that our farmers and ranchers are receiving the resources they need to continue feeding our nation and the rest of the world, starting with the 2013 Farm Bill," National Grange President Ed Luttrell said.

"I commend Senator Reid for publicly making the 2013 Farm Bill a top priority for the new 113th Congress. Ag policy is often overlooked and underappreciated so we're glad to see Senate leadership embracing it as an essential piece of legislation. We'll certainly be monitoring this issue very closely in coming months," National Grange Legislative Director Grace Boatright said.

The National Grange is America's oldest fraternal agriculture advocacy organization. Founded in 1867, the Grange has more than 160,000 members throughout the United States, and chapters in more than 2,100 hometowns across America.
