AUGUST 29, 2012 -- Our friends over at Pharmacy Choice and Access Now, better known as PCAN, recently asked me to be a guest blogger on their website, describing the unique challenge rural Americans face in obtaining quality healthcare and access to pharmacies.
The decline in rural pharmacies is quickly becoming a major issue for rural Americans, who are already hindered by limited Internet access and the possibility of reduced postal service. Pharmacists provide an essential service in rural areas, and we need to remind our elected officials of the vital purpose they serve, especially in areas where doctors and nurses can be hard to find.
