AUGUST 9, 2011 -- Charlotte H. (Hewitt )(Woodman) Spring, 88, of Torrington died Sunday, Aug. 7, 2011 at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital. She was the wife of the late Morton, Spring in 1976 and Ronald Woodman in 1998. Charlotte was born in Winchester, on Dec. 23, 1922, the daughter of the late Raymond and Ruth (Hurlbut) Hewitt.
She worked for Foothills VNA for 27 years, retiring at age 87. She was a Life Member of United Congregational Church and sang with the choir, and was 1st treasurer of Torringford Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary. She was a 59 year member of of Eureka Grange, Mountain County Pomona Grange and National Grange and a member of The Red Hats. She volunteered at 5th Ave Thrift Shop and was active in organizations at Laurel Acres.
Charlotte is survived by two daughters, Diann Spring of Torrington and Nadine Stanley of Simsbury and a son, Craig Spring and wife Dolores of Goshen, four grandchildren and six great grandchildren. She also leaves her brother Charles Hewitt and wife Marsha of Cape Cod and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother Gordon Hewitt, sister Clara Niederhauser, and grandson William "Billy" Stanley.
A Memorial Service will be held at United Congregational Church, Torrington at 11 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 12, with burial following at Torringford Cemetery. Friends may call at Church from 10 to 11 a.m.
