Youth and Junior News - August 2011

By Lisa Lamoureux, Youth and Junior Director

  AUGUST 2, 2011 --

Greetings Fellow Grangers!!!  I would like to start off with a big THANK YOU to Pat Palmer for all of her hard work and delicious lasagna that was served at “Let’s Celebrate”.  I would also like to say “THANKS” to all who helped out that day also.  Without your help there would be no Juniors or Youths.  A very special THANK YOU also goes out to Bob Brockett.  He was the lucky winner of the 50/50 raffle that we held that day to raise funds for an outing to the Science Museum in Hartford during State Session this fall.  Bob Brockett generously donated his winnings to the Juniors and Youth to put towards this outing.  Thank you again for your generous donation!!!!!

Speaking of the Science Museum in Hartford, Junior Grange leaders, I will have more information on this outing for the next issue and will be sending out a letter with the details.  Another item that will be featured in this letter will be the BIG E.  Yes, I did say, the BIG E.  I will have more information for the next issue of the “Granger” and letters will go out to the Junior and Youth regarding this.  This should be a fun day for all and  we may also be able to participate in the daily parade so make sure that you look for the letter and upcoming information.  We are just tying up some things on both of these items.

As I write this, I am also getting ready to head up to Maine (one of my favorite States) to attend the Northeastern Regional Youth Conference.  I hope that they are going to serve up some lobster for breakfast, lunch and dinner!!!!  We have a full crew going to represent Connecticut – GO CONNECTICUT STATE YOUTH!!!!!  Keep them in your thoughts and prayers.  This will also be a great experience to see how things are run as Connecticut will host the Northeastern Regional Youth Conference next year (2012).  This is very exciting for us.  We will need lots of help so if you would like to help out, look for more information in the coming months and we will gladly accept any and all help that anyone would like to give.

Well for now, I have to go pack and get ready for Maine.  Keep us in your thoughts and will let you know how we make out next time.
