FEBRUARY 21, 2011 -- Helen Curtis Griffing Ripley, 86, of Milford, wife of the late E. Bradford Ripley Jr., died Feb. 18, at CT Hospice in Branford.
Daughter of the late Ebenezer Chauncey and Katharine Curtis Griffing, she was born Feb. 8, 1925 in New Haven.
Mrs. Ripley graduated from Milford High School and Vassar College. She worked as a numismatist, medical secretary and magazine editor.
She was a scout master for Senior Girl Scouts, a volunteer at the American Red Cross, Milford Chapter for more than 30 years, and the secretary of Indian River Grange #73 for 25 years.
She is survived by her sons, Bryan C. Ripley and his wife, Melanie of Morrisville, Vt., and John B. Ripley of Milford; brother Stuart L. Griffing, step-daughter Janet R. Cooper, three grandchildren Brad J. Ripley and his wife, Stephanie, Christin A. Ripley, Jessica C. Ripley and their mother, Karen Lamothe; great-grandson, Jacob B. Ripley; niece, nephew, great nieces and great nephews.
Besides her parents and husband, she was predeceased by a stepdaughter, Barbara Dowling.
Visiting hours are Saturday, Feb. 26, noon-2, Smith & Sefcik Funeral Home, 135 N. Broad St., Milford.
