From The Lecturer's Desk
Congratulations!

By Marge Bernhardt, State Lecturer

  NOVEMBER 2010 --

My congratulations to all the Granges and Grangers who received awards at State Session.  Thirty-five Lecturers’ Appreciation Awards were given out and in addition to that ten Lecturers received Honor Lecturer Certificates.  Hopefully, these are being presented at your Subordinate Grange meetings.  Please be sure and thank your Lecturer for all she has done.  Being Lecturer is not an easy job.  It takes dedication, enthusiasm and a lot of work to be a good Lecturer.

I’m told that judging the Complete programs was especially hard this year.  We had several very good entries.  The best part of this is that I have lots of good numbers to share with you in my newsletters.  The Winners in this Contest are…  1st Susan Pianka, North Stonington Community Grange; 2nd Joanne Cipriano, Beacon Valley Grange; and, 3rd, D. Emily Alexander, North Have Grange.   Congratulations!

Winners in the Essay Contest – 1st Joanne Cipriano, Beacon Valley Grange; 2nd Jeff Barnes, Stonington Grange; and, 3rd Barbara Kulisch, Old Lyme Grange.

Our Grangers are still actively supporting the Should Auld Acquaintance program which helps to bring a little cheer into our convalescent and rest homes.  If you want to know who participated in all the different programs, ask your Lecturer.  She received a complete list with her November – December Newsletter.  If your Grange isn’t on the list, why not offer to head up the project in your Town.

Many Granges wrote letters to service men and women deployed in harms way.  Most reported sending packages to them in addition to the letters.  Need help getting started on this program?  Remember I am always as close as your phone or computer and will do whatever I can to help you.

Hope to see you around the State.
