Around The Grange
Oregon Grange member to speak about Haiti earthquake

By Rebecca Luedloff, The Oregonian (8/11/10)

  AUGUST 20, 2010 --

What has happened to Haiti since the massive 7.0 earthquake struck on Jan. 12? Terry Williamson, a Scholls Grange (Oregon) member and lecturer, recently returned from Haiti on July 28. Williamson volunteered six weeks with Project Medishare, which is affiliated with the University of Miami.

She spent most of her time in the area of Port-au-Prince, Haiti's capital. Williamson recently showed photos and gave a short talk on Friday, August 13, at the Grange, with a question and answer time following.

Project Medishare is currently working very closely with the Haitian Ministry of Health to coordinate the medical relief effort and is dedicated to improving the health and overall well-being of the Haitian people by re-establishing the health infrastructure and providing access to agriculture, education, clean water and sanitation, in several communities.

This event featured a potluck supper at Scholls Grange No. 338 where everyone brought something to share. The Grange is located at 16917 S.W. Hillsboro Highway. For more information, visit www.schollsgrange.com and www.projectmedishare.org.
