Litchfield Grange mourns loss of Sue Magyar

Anne L. "Sue" (Macdonald) Magyar, 95, passed away on Tuesday, July 6, 2010, at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital in Torrington.

She is survived by her loving husband, John Magyar, and her children, James and Elaine Magyar of Providence, R.I., and Ann Magyar, and Barbara and Charles Macasay of Boston. She is also survived by her grandchildren, John Magyar of New York, Andrew and Kendra Magyar of Cambridge, Mass., Paul Magyar of Pasadena, Calif., and Samuel Macasay of Boston.

Born in Bridgeport, she was the daughter of George Macdonald and Daisy Card Macdonald. She lived many years in Huntington, where she began her career as a teacher and volunteered as a Brownie leader. After moving to Litchfield, she became a member of the Milton Women's Club, the Litchfield Grange and Our Lady of Grace Church, and volunteered for Red Cross blood drives.

Friends and family are invited to call at the Rowe Funeral Home, 283 Torrington Road, Litchfield, on Thursday, July 8, 2010, from 5 to 7 p.m. The funeral Mass will be celebrated 10 a.m. Friday, July 9, at Our Lady of Grace Church, 715 Bantam Road, Bantam. Burial will immediately follow the service.
