Feb. 9: Revolutionary Beginnings

Feb. 23: Snow date for February Our annual Christmas party was a nice mixture of traditional and fun. First each child in the hall placed a character into a manger scene on the Graces table while members read the story of the Nativity; then the children participated in a rousing game of Win it in a Minute where teams of three cooperated in building towers from red Solo cups and squares of cardboard. The children’s ages ranged from 5 to 15 and each team included a little one. It was wonderful to see the cooperation within the teams. There were cries of encouragement, then despair as towers rose, then toppled to the floor. Santa arrived on time with a bag bulging with gifts for the children. The evening concluded with festive and filling refreshments. Many thanks to the loyal crew that decorated the hall, both upstairs and down.

A nasty storm caused us to move our caroling from Monday to Saturday, much to the surprise of the carolers. (Is that a word?) Noting the startling rise in the price of prepared fruit baskets this year, our Master and his wife decided to make them themselves. Other than the fact that their efforts saved the Grange a pretty penny, this recipient can testify that the resulting baskets were far superior to the pre-made ones. I’m sure the carolers agree. And if these heavy storms we have been experiencing will just stop toppling trees over onto the wires, next time we will tell you all about joyous January.
