We hope everyone had a very Happy Thanksgiving. Our Lecturer was able to fill a large bag with non-perishable food items we all donated for the local food bank. She then conducted a name game for various items you would purchase. Our table was then set up with a number of items we were to buy without going over $10.00. Quaker oats blew me away. Nancy won with seven   items spending $9.99

Readings followed about food security, food deserts and followed by Grocery bingo. A skit called “Man Down” had us all laughing and the closing was the parable of spoons. The purpose of the program was to bring home the plight of people all over the country who do not have either the resources to grow, or buy, or have food stores conveniently located in order to eat a good nutritious diet. We are all urged to add a few items to your local food shelf. We need to stop hunger in America.

Nancy gave a full report of the State session including how our resolutions turned  out. We voted to purchase $10.00 gift certificates to add to the Christmas mugs we will fill for the veterans at Phelps Village in Rockville. A vote was taken to  do  a Yankee Christmas Swap. If you’re not sure what that is please call Nancy or Cherie for details. It’s a lot of fun. A vote was also taken to donate money to Heifer International to purchase chickens and bees. Word came that brother Gordon Gibson will soon be moving to be with his daughter Dawn in the Carolinas. We wish him the very best and  hope  he  continues to improve. Our visitor for the evening was Ted Beebe, our new State Gatekeeper. Congratulations Ted.

The very Best Christmas wishes to all and a very Happy New Year.
