Aug. 5:  Summer Surprise, Picnic at Nancy’s

Sept. 2 or 9: In the State Of...

A summer picnic is always a treat. Bring your favorite potluck food and join the fun at Nancy Strong’s farm. Cherie had everyone guessing on a quiz of words that had the letters flag in them. Some I never heard before and some that have been out of use for several years.

Our Pledge of Allegiance was adopted in 1892 and is repeated at schools across the country every day. The words “Under God” were not added until much later and are still under controversy in many areas. Several more interesting flag facts were presented, and we learned that there was no word for Patriot in ASL. In September we will go out of state for a variety program sure to snick your interest. Zoom is always available even when meetings are held in-person so there is no excuse not to attend. Contact Nancy to be put on our list of invitees. Get your writing skills ready for our annual Letters from Home project which will be due soon. Cherie has a large stack of postcards to hand out to anyone who wants them. If you have anything for our 4 Town Fair displays, contact Nancy. We need some herbs and flowers and handmade items beside the many vegetables and baked goods.
