Around The Grange
Jun 2022 News from N. Stonington Community Grange No. 138

By Nancy R. Weissmuller

  June 7, 2022 --

It is with deep sadness that I report the passing of our dear Flora. There are not enough words allowed me in this article to list all Flo Mullane has done for our Grange. In her nearly 50 years of membership she has made every curtain and furniture cover in our hall as well as the beautiful bunting for our float. She has been diligent in keeping the hall clean and has been indispensable in the running of our food booth for every event. Many years ago several of us made well over 100 stuffed animals at her home and were treated to her legendary pizza. Her talents were many and she shared them unconditionally. To say she will be missed is an understatement.

On a happier note, our hall rang with laughter on April 23 as Cheree and Robert Miner portrayed our Community Citizen, Kasher Deshify (and her husband), in a hilarious skit (written by Sue Pianka) presented to an audience of 67 appreciative people. Kasher is the town’s hardworking animal control officer and is well-loved by residents who attested to the fact that she will answer every call, night or day.

Our June 10 program will be election of officers with a short program. June 24 is our annual picnic (starting at 6:30), with hamburgers, hot dogs and drinks provided by the Grange and potluck provided by all who attend. Food will be followed by games, so bring the kiddies and enjoy an evening with friends. And if this wild wind will just stop knocking trees over in our yard, next time I’ll tell you all about merry May.
