Our March meeting was held virtually due to the weather conditions and our parking lot. The Legislative Committee, chaired by Phil Prelli, led the program titled pandemic and the Lecturer’s program was titled “State Capitol Watch 2022 and impacts on YOU!”

Our special guest again this year was State Representative Mark Anderson from Granby who highlighted key legislation of interest to Grange  members  and talked about our state coming out of the pandemic.  Despite his busy scheduled,  Rep.  Anderson stayed for the entire meeting!

Chair Prelli again hosted his annual political quiz and President Dave Roberts won first place and Rep. Anderson won second place.  The program  ended  with  Chair  Prelli mentioning his service as a State Representative and also highlighted President Roberts’  grandparents, the  Honorable  Laurence  H.  and Dorothy F. Roberts, who both were  State  Representatives  and his grandmother was a long-time active member of Riverton Grange. During updates, President Roberts  announced  that  Riverton Grange would receive a $150 grant from CT State Grange for our new composting initiative.

New Grange member Judy Doyle announced a new program  called “Cooking with Riverton Grange” and the first installment would feature Orchard Hill Bakery in Riverton and show how to make Irish soda bread.
