Riverton Grange holds lecture on history and diversity of Israel

By The Register Citizen

  APRIL 27, 2009 --

On Friday, May 1, Riverton Grange will meet at its hall on Route 20 at 7:30 p.m. A program entitled “Mother” will be presented by the lecturer. Refreshments for the evening will be prepared by Janet Coleman, Kitty McKee and Arba Roberts.

Members and friends will also meet on Friday, May 15, at 6:30 p.m. for a pot-luck supper under the direction of Bill and Virginia King.

The speaker for the evening will be the Rev. Dr. Randall Niehoff, who will provide a program entitled “Israel: The Biggest Little Country in the World”. Located squarely on the “land bridge” that connects three continents, tiny Israel displays a profile that reveals unmatched diversity in geography, sociology, religion, politics and history.

Dr. Niehoff will provide a brief introduction of this vital country, which has been the source of enormous influence on western civilization since ancient times.

Dr. Niehoff recently retired after 41 years as a Congregational minister and first studied in Israel in 1986. He has since led four study tours to that country, the last being in November 2008. Dr. Niehoff and his wife, Marilyn, now reside in Winsted, Connecticut, and Sanibel Island, Florida.

Anyone interested in any of the Grange’s special programs is cordially invited to attend.
