Around The Grange
September 2018 News from Winchester Grange No. 74

By Todd Gelineau

  September 11, 2018 --

Sept. 11: First & Second Degrees, Ref. Peter & Mary Lou Keefe

Sept. 18: Third & Fourth Degrees, Ref. Harvest Potluck Supper (6:30 P.M.)

Sept. 25: Installation of Officers, Ref. Ramona Fassio

Well, the Grange Fair and Flea Market has come and gone. In past years, if there was rain, it held off until just before or just after our closing time. This year was much different with showers starting almost right at the start of the Fair. Despite the rainy weather that held on throughout the day, we had a decent showing of visitors and a respectable profit for the day. We always remind ourselves that holding the Fair ultimately means we don’t have to pay property taxes on our hall and the land it sits on. We thank all of the members and friends of Winchester Grange who contributed time, talents, entries and items for this year’s fair. It certainly couldn’t happen without the support of our community and it would be hard to find a better Grange community than Winchester Center!

By the time you are reading this, our annual Awards Night and Picnic will have been held. We will hopefully have more on this along with pictures in the next issue.

Do you know of anyone who would like to join the Grange? If so, please contact Secretary Sue Addison so we can plan for the degree nights list above in the calendar listing. If we do not have candidates we will have a regular meeting on Sept. 11.
