Around The Grange
September 2018 News from Ekonk Community Grange No. 89

By Sue Gray

  September 18, 2018 --

Tis the season for love! As I write this, Katie Molodich and Tom Sweet are enjoying their Jack and Jill at Brooklyn Fairgrounds; they will marry in Oct. When you read this, Colin Sebastian and Carly Byron will be married. The day of our Grange Fair, Grangers Ethan Jordan and Karolyn Card will be married! Congratulations to all three amazing couples; all in their 20’s and all Grangers (except Carly, who is working on her Doctorate in Chemistry down south). 16 of us enjoyed a picnic, fellowship and swimming at Larkin’s Park in RI as guests of Richmond Grange. 17 from Ekonk helped in some way at Washington County Fair in RI and by this reading Brooklyn Fair will also be history-special thanks to Jodi Ann Cameron for again heading up the Ekonk Booth at this major fair!

Lillian Sharpe has applied to be our State Junior Ambassador. She cooked chicken for 208 people at our Blueberry Supper, which she co-chaired with her Mother, Deborah Sharpe. Six Juniors are very interested in traveling to VT for National Junior Days: exciting times at our Junior Grange. Evelyn Dexter and Victoria Currier spent 3 and 4 weeks respectfully as CIT’s at Camp Berger this summer.

We have met and planning to again serve breakfast and lunch at Celebrate AG at the Woodstock Fairgrounds September 22nd; last year we fed 700 hungry farm people breakfast!

Eighty year Granger, George Turner, was honored at the annual Moosup VJ Day Parade. He rode on a patriotic float surrounded by other Subordinate and Junior Grangers and spearheaded by Andrea Truppa, our Chaplain. Mike Molodich drove the tractor. George Turner is a Veteran pilot of World War 11 who flew planes for 3 years during the War.
