AUGUST 18, 2018 -- Cannon Grange is planning it's 86th consecutive Agricultural Fair to be held on Sunday, August 26th from 10 AM to 4 PM.
Admission to the fair is $2 per person, or $1 accompanied by a non-perishable food item for the Wilton Social Services Food Pantry. The Fair activities all take place at the historic Cannon Grange Hall and its grounds located at 25 Cannon Road. Free parking is available at the Cannondale Railroad Station directly across the street. A signed cross-walk over Cannon Road is located at the Grange's front door.
A wide assortment of judged exhibits typifies an agricultural fair, and fairgoers will be guaranteed some wonderful exhibits in the following: Culinary Arts, Crafts, Vegetables and Fruit, Flowers, Sewing and Needlework, Bunnies, Poultry and Fowl, Watercolor Painting, Photography and Eggs. A variety of categories within each major heading are listed in the Fair Book; so there is something for everyone in which to participate. Bright yellow covered fair books are available from Wilton Hardware, Village Market, Town Hall Lobby, Offinger's Farmstand and Wilton Library, in addition to being found online at www.cannongrange.org.
Ribbons for 1st, 2nd, 3rd and Honorable Mention will be awarded. The most coveted and exciting ribbon to be awarded within each major group is the Best of Show purple rosette with its long streamers and gold fringe.
New at the fair this year will be a large gathering of non-profit organizations from Wilton and surrounding towns. They will have table-top displays describing their respective mission statement and have information available on how to participate with them.
Games for kids and adults will be held for all to enjoy, including a late afternoon watermelon-eating contest! A very special and fun game with appeal to teens and adults will be a small putting green being provided by Mr. Neil Robertson of ProLinks Putting Greens.
The fair committee includes grange members Dearta Fusaro, Michele Clark, and Don Offinger of Wilton, and Doug Shepherd and Bil Mikulewicz of Ridgefield.
The contests are open to children and adults, with details and an entry form included in the Fair Book. Entry fees are $1 per exhibit which may be mailed to PO Box 23 in Wilton, or paid in person on Saturday, August 25th from 1 PM - 4 PM. Entries made on Sunday morning carry a $2 per exhibit fee.
We look forward to seeing you there!
