Breakfast and lunch will be served, and the day will also feature backyard farming seminars. The seminar schedule is as follows:

  • 9:15 a.m. — Seed Saving & Swapping, hosted by Forest Clinton of Super Super Seed Swap, will teach people how to select, store and swap seeds.
  • 10 a.m. — Beekeeping 101, hosted by educator Karen Turner, will focus on the equipment and basic care involved in keeping bees.
  • 11 a.m. — Goats 101, hosted by Michelle Nardozzi of Newbury Farms, will teach people about how raising goats can be useful and rewarding.
  • 12:30 a.m. — Bunnies 101, hosted by Caroline Flader of Benedict’s Home & Garden, will focus on what is required in keeping rabbits.
  • 1:30 p.m. — Chickens 101, hosted by Traci Torres of My Pet Chicken, will describe the time, money and equipment involved in the care of chickens.

The egg contest is for “best looking dozen eggs.” To register entries for judging, bring them to Harmony Grange lower level, 2 Shelton Road, on Friday, Aug. 24, between 3 and 6 p.m., or between 8 and 9 a.m. on the day of the fair.
