It’s DONE! Winchester Grange has a new parking lot and driveway and it looks beautiful. While we don’t exactly know when the old pavement was installed, it has been decades. The old potholes, cracks and waves are gone, replaced by brand new smooth pavement. In addition to the parking lot, the front step was replaced and a new railing with a solar light was installed leading up the side of the portico. The project was made possible by a generous donation from the Winchester Center Volunteer Fire Dept. and a loan from the State Grange. Actually, it was an extension on the existing loan we took out to replace our boiler system. In the end, the payments on the revised loan are actually less than the original loan.

We get to show off the new pavement at our annual Winchester Grange Fair & Flea Market on Saturday, August 11 from 10 A.M. to 3 P.M. at the Grange Hall and on the green in Winchester Center. The fair, as always, features baking, flowers, vegetable and fruit judging. There will be a chance table, giant book sale and a flea market on the Green. And did I forget… there will be plenty of food available all day long. Admission and parking are free, so fi ll up the car and head to the peaceful hills of Winchester Center.
