March 2018 News From Ekonk Community Grange

By Sue Gray

  March 14, 2018 --

As I write this, we are practicing weekly for the annual program we enjoy taking to our friends in Richmond, RI. Lots of fun, Juniors showcasing their talents as well as songs and jokes! We voted to hold a cupcake contest at our April 2nd meeting, when Richmond brings us their FUN program! Rules are on our Facebook page, sent via Paulette’s vast e-mail list or you can contact me.

The Juniors received 10 ski passes at the local R.I. winter ski area, courtesy of our member, Jim Thevenet, who volunteers there throughout the ski season! As of this writing about 15 plan to enjoy the winter fun! The Juniors enjoyed an “Antique Painting” class as well as a visit from the Dennison Pequot Nature Sepsis. The transfer of land, currently used by our Grange, from the Gray’s to the Grange is now complete. Thanks to Andrea Truppa- Gagas (our LAS) for lending her expertise to the legal documents!

March 7th, we will serve a luncheon for farmers associated with the local company “V-Town”. March 17th will be our Corned Beef and Cabbage Supper at 5:00 p.m. as well as the first in our Spring series of Square and Round Dances, beginning at 7:30 p.m.

March 25th, Tom Sweet Jr. and his fiancée, Katie Molodich, will be putting on an all you can eat Pancake Breakfast from 7:00 to 10:00 a.m. featuring their own maple syrup!

March 30th we will hold our annual Good Friday Chowder n’ clam cake supper, which also includes corn chowder. We have begun our spring activities so we are a busy crew! Congratulations to our member, David Griffiths, who as an affiliate member of Killingly Grange has taken the helm as their Master!
