November 9, 2017 -- Our first endeavor for “Celebrate Ag” at the Woodstock Fair Grounds went extremely well and we are so pleased that they want us next year too! Thanks to ALL ho helped in this major event! A $500.00 donation was voted as a donation to the “Celebrate Ag” Committee for their good works.
The 2018 Sterling Community Calendar will feature the Frink Homestead as the picture; Jan Cooper painted this historic home. This farm is rich in history, dating back to a grant from King George. The farm is now owned by the Hermonot family and they have made it part of their Ekonk Hill Turkey Farm business.
We voted to subscribe to the National magazine, “Good Day” as a Grange as well as be a $50.00 sponsor for the Gala 150th birthday celebration of the Grange in D.C. this December 4th.
Our final count for the “G” bill program was $603.00. While less than last year, we are proud to participate in this fundraiser to help pay for National Grange when it comes to the Northeast, which is next November (VT)!
By this reading, Link Cooper will have applied preservative to the Grange Pavilion and our Grange will have participated in both Sterling Farm Day and the Sterling Spooktacular!
Ninety + Ekonk Juniors were awarded pins for completed projects at Junior Installation in September! Four Ekonk Juniors have successfully completed ALL requirements to become “Super JG’s”: Ariella Bessette, Brianna Gervais, Lillian and Russell Sharpe. Four Juniors (by this reading) attended State Grange Junior Day; the tour and the luncheon. Many entered State and National contests this year, perhaps gaining inspiration from time spent with the National Junior Grange Ambassador, Jomni Tarbell in August. The Juniors earned $345.82 for their homemade cookies & brownies at “Celebrate Ag” in Woodstock. They also helped as runners, etc. throughout the event. Verna Cole (860-564-2388) is taking reservations for 6’ table spaces at our December 2nd Christmas Bazaar (10- 2). $10.00 per table. Visit us any first Monday at 7:30 p.m.!
