October 9, 2017 -- Because Mountain County Pomona is not printing Handbooks this year, Winchester Grange has put together it’s own program guide for 2018. They were handed out at the Installation of Officers and extras are available by contacting the Lecturer or Secretary--- OR come to a meeting! We would love to see you there!
September has been an EXTREMELY busy month for Winchester Grange! Every Tuesday during the month was Grange night, starting with a rehearsal of degree work on Sept. 5 followed by the First and Second Degrees on Sept. 12. The Third and Fourth Degrees followed on Sept. 19. We are extremely excited to welcome SIX NEW MEMBERS. Several of our new members love ritual and wanted all of the “bells and whistles” of full degree work.
Winchester Grange is blessed with a dedicated bunch of officers and members who almost always say “yes” when help is needed and are happy to fill in any voids the crop up on degree teams. It was good to brush out the cob webs and confer the degrees again after a two year hiatus. With only a few hiccups, the degrees went off well and the candidates seem very impressed. Congratulations to them and thanks to our members for their support!
September 26 was our annual Installation of Officers by the Cameron/ Barnes Installing Team. We know it’s a long drive out to Winchester from the “Quiet Corner” and we thank them for getting us off to a good start for 2017- 2018.
On September 30, Winchester Grange again participated in Winchester Center Day with the Winchester Center Congregational Church, Winchester Center Vol. Fire Dept., Winchester Historical Association and the Little Red Schoolhouse Association. This event has become a fixture of the fall season in the Center and is an opportunity for all of the organizations in Winchester Center to work together. Winchester Grange holds an art show in the upper hall, a tag sale in the lower hall and sells Apple Crisp and has a hot dog stand in front of the hall while a car show is held on the Green and the historical association is open to visit in the old Chapel.
