August 12, 2017 -- We look forward to hosting the National Grange Jr. Ambassador, Alexandria “Jomni” Tarbell, here at Ekonk August 16-19th! She will be chaperoned by Stephanie Inglis (East Pembroke Junior Grange, NY).
They will stay at the home of Russell and Sue Gray. Ekonk and Washington County Fair (Richmond, RI) are jointly covering travel costs (420 miles each way). Washington County Fair has invited Jomni to spend Thursday, August 17th, as special guests of the Fair. She and he chaperone will get free food, rides, etc. as well as assist with judging special events! Friday, Jomni and members of Ekonk Junior will tour Newport (Jomni’s choice of places to visit). Friday late afternoon/evening, there will be a family Grange picnic in the Gray family yard.
Four Ekonk Juniors have loved a week at Camp Berger (July) by this writing! Friends and camp-can it get any better than that! Kayla, Evelyn, Jenna and Toni all had fun at Camp Berger (and on the same week too)!
Lillian Sharpe, President-elect of Ekonk Junior, is running for Junior Ambassador and has MANY badges earned as she prepares herself for this new challenge--good luck Lillian! She and Jomni will have much to talk about!
We had many Ekonk Grangers graduate college/ high school: congratulations to all! We had a cake at our June meeting in their honor! Several are going off to college, so we bid them farewell and Godspeed in their next step in life’s journey!
We are ready for our Grange Fair August 12th. We will also again be helping Richmond Grange in their Shaved Steak booth (Wed. & Sat.) and running the Ekonk Booth at Brooklyn Fair. Jodi Ann Cameron had surgery in June and at this writing is still on crutches. She is the rock of the Brooklyn Fair Booth so we all hope she is healed by Fair time! |
