March 6, 2017 -- The Bridgewater Grange will hold a meeting at Saint Marks Church on Wednesday March 8th 2017 starting at 7 PM. Saint Marks is located on the corner of Hat Shop Hill Road and Route 133 right near the Bridgewater Post Office. This will be a meeting open to the public. There will be three topics of interest and four speakers.
The first topic will be about a new community supported agriculture (CSA) farm starting up in this area. Dan Weed, from a local family of farmers, is starting the CSA which will be called Deerfield Farms. He has over 400 acres in New Milford, Bridgewater and Roxbury. They will attempt to be as organic as possible. They will plant over 20 heirloom varieties of vegetables as well as lots of sweet corn.
The second topic will be about gardening. Donna Katsuranis, of Brookfield, is a Master Gardener and the director of the “Giving Garden” which gives their crops to local charities and helps with low income families. Donna can answer most any question about growing flowers and vegetables.
The third topic will be about the future of the Bridgewater Grange Hall. Curtis Reade, the first selectman of Bridgewater, and Lisa Burns will discuss the new plans for the renovation of the Grange Hall.
Refreshments will be served. We welcome everybody in the area to come to this informative meeting. |
