Around The Grange
October 2016 News from Lyme Grange

By Lois Evankow

  October 23, 2016 --

Nov. 3: Ag. Program, “The Frost is on the Pumpkin”

Dec. 1: Potluck Supper at 6:30- Certificate night. Make way for Rudolph.

Dec. 8: Snow date for Dec. 1.

Jan. 5: Show & Tell – Let’s Share our hobbies and small antiques.

First of all, I’d like to mention three of our longtime members who have worked on our Hamburg Fair. Marita Rand, who in 1980 (36 years ago) took on Secretary of Lyme Grange, corresponding Secretary of the Fair and chairperson of the veggie dept. of our Fair. Then we have Sandy Peterson who has worked on the gates for 37 years. The last two years she has volunteered where needed. Lois Evankow, who in 1976 took over chairperson of handcrafts and was elected Lecturer of Lyme Grange. All three are still going strong. We thank all the many volunteers who work so tirelessly at our fair. There are too many to mention here. These three stand out.

It finally cooled down and we had a very pleasant September meeting. Still don’t know the results of the Fair but the Grange Snack Bar cleared about $2,300, down last year due to the small fortune we had to pay for pies.

We voted two delegates to State Grange Session and our Junior Grangers to the J.G. luncheon on Saturday.

Rain - wonderful rain, at last. So welcome. It’s been so dry..
