AUGUST 29, 2016 -- Hillstown Community Grange’s 128th Annual Agricultural Fair will be held on Saturday, September 17, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. rain or shine. The Grange Hall is located at 617 Hills Street, East Hartford, CT.
The public is invited to enter their needle work, flowers, crafts, hobbies, vegetables, bake goods, jams, and jellies. Ribbons and cash prizes are awarded to winning entries. This year’s special contests are for the ‘largest butternut squash’ and the ‘largest sunflower seed area’ measured across (seeds may be missing). “NOTE” Items for judging must be brought to the Grange on Friday, September 16th, between 5 and 7 p.m. entry forms will be available then. A quick rule is 3 specimens for small veggies such as tomatoes and 1 specimen for larger items like squash.
Our famous hot dogs and hamburgers with peppers and onions will be available from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The bake sale usually runs out of pies by 1 p.m. so get here early to get a homemade pie. Raffle numbers will be pulled at 2:30.
Our Grange will also be holding a Grandma’s Attic Sale and Master Jon's book sale with lots of children’s books in our upstairs hall. Special bag pricing.
A farmer’s market and kid zone will be held outside weather permitting.
The Hillstown Grange Fair is the areas only Agricultural Fair, serving the towns of East Hartford, Glastonbury, and Manchester for 128 years, come and feel the history.
