North Stonington Comm. Grange September News

By Nancy R. Weissmuller

  SEPTEMBER 8, 2015 --

Our 51st North Stonington Agricultural Fair enjoyed fine weather and good crowds.  Everyone said it was a great Fair.  The new steps at the front and back of the Grnage Hall were completed just in time for the Fair with the wrought iron railings still to come.

Our thanks to everyone who helped in the food booth for the 4H Exposition.  We couldn’t do it without you.

At our June meeting in July (too many Fairs on the grounds) Ellie Banker told us all about the history of our school system.  We started out with fifteen one-room schoolhouses scattered all over town way back when.  One had the interesting nickname “Bloody Six”.  If you were at the meeting you know why.

Sue says the September programs are a “surprise,” but whatever they are they will be good.  They always are.  This year the titles are based on “A pep talk according to Halls.”  Come to a meeting and make sure you put your name on the refreshment list for the year.  The summer heat will be over and the crisp autumn breezes will be here.  And if the little snake that lives in my woodpile will just stop sunning himself in my driveway, next time I’ll tell you about awesome August.

Sept. 11:  “Nothing You Can’t Handle”

Sept. 24:  “Impress Yourself Today”
