JANUARY 1, 2015 -- The Christmas Bazaar was a great success thanks to the efforts of Verna Cole and her assistants. We all missed Jan Cooper, with her wonderful hand painted items She brought Link HOME that very day so naturally Link took precedence. We held a supper prior to our Dec. meeting and welcomed State Master, Noel and First Lady, Marcia Miller to our Grange. Several Juniors joined us, which is always nice.
Brother Miller presented our President, Katie Molodich, with the first place (National) Community Service plaque and a check for $400.00 (which gave our treasury a much needed boost) Russell Gray delivered three generous baskets (boxes) to Sterling homes just in time to help them celebrate Thanksgiving. He delivered another three just before Christmas. Our Grange and Junior Grange each adopted a separate family for Christmas. This is a tradition that not only fills the needs for a family, but warms our hearts as well.
Several attended the annual tree lighting in memory of Nancy Jordan Hopkins (daughter of Ekonk’s Bob Jordan)-it was a cold, rainy afternoon so hearty souls prevailed to honor her memory and watch as the lights went on throughout the park. Of course Santa came too! Then Grangers attended the annual Sterling Hospice Tree Lighting and the Wreath Across America, both in Oneco. Some Grangers volunteered to help fill sandbags to create the first annual Sterling Ice Skating Rink--it is sure to get lots of use by thankful families!
The Juniors did their usual exemplary performance this Christmas with several children sharing their musical talents as well. We have several future Grange pianists among their ranks! We donated a HUGE bag of pancake mix to the Plainfield Lions Club for use at their breakfasts, We are a busy, happy bunch here on the Hill-come visit and we will greet you with a SMILE!
