Cannon Grange November News Update

By Don Offinger

  NOVEMBER 4, 2014 --

We are off to a good start with the new Grange year and have a line up of fascinating programs that are interactive, informative and interesting.   Our members and guests enjoyed a program on winemaking (recipes that use grapes, fruits, honey) presented by our lecturer, John Kriz.  Winemaking has been a hobby of John’s for a number of years, and he was very generous in telling about the process, where to procure the ingredients and equipment and how to bottle the end-product.  John displayed his equipment and demonstrated its use.  It is no wonder that John has won several awards for his wines.

Over 125 pounds of canned and packaged food was collected as admission to our Agricultural Fair.  Three bushel baskets were arranged by Michele Clark and Doug Shepherd for delivery to the Wilton Food Pantry as a collaborative effort of service by our two organizations.

We will have a guest speaker coming in December to talk about genetically modified food, and this should provide opportunity for a lively debate on this interesting and current topic.  Are GMOs “franken-food” or is it all hype?  Come find out!

Perfect time to do some Christmas shopping will be at our Holiday Market on Saturday, December 6th.  Come between 10 AM and 3 PM for some wonderful shopping for gifts, or for treats for yourself.  You might even catch Santa and one of his elves coming to visit.

Please note our meeting and event schedule.  All our meetings begin at 7 PM.  Visiting Patrons are always welcome -- won’t you join us?
