NOVEMBER 2007 -- By the time this appears in the Granger, the Annual Session of the Connecticut State Grange will be over. Our contest for Farmer of the Year in the various categories was satisfactory with excellent entries. We want to thank all who sent in entries. We also want to thank all who participated in the corn contests.
The committee met at Meriden Grange on September 29, and along with the contests, etc. discussed the entries into the Blue Book for the next year. The farmer contests will be the same, but the subject of the agriculture contest will be pumpkins.
The Agriculture and Legislative Committees met in the Massachusetts Building at the Big E for discussion, among other things, about the upcoming leadership meeting and the New England Fly-In to Washington in February. We will be working on a coordinated program of concerns to be presented to our representatives when we are in Washington, D.C. as well as any Connecticut concerns that anyone may have.
