OCTOBER 5, 2014 -- Our 82nd Annual Agricultural Fair held in August was a booming success. Many thanks to the Fair Planning Committee for a job well-done! The Kids Zone was admirably managed by Anna Clark and her friends. Anna is the daughter of Michele and Harry Clark. The Information Booth that provided Grange information, a cool drink of lemonade and an assortment of gifts was beautifully managed by Sarah Shepherd, daughter off Doug and Kara Shepherd. The weather couldn’t have been better, and all who came enjoyed our vendors, the exhibits, the musical entertainment, the watermelon eating contest, the food, and the kids games. Throughout the day we weclomed more than 2000 visitors! Nearly 100 pounds of canned goods were collected at the Admission Gate, which will be provided to the Wilton Interfaith Food Pantry for those who in need of assistance in town.
We’ll be starting the planning process for the 2015 fair shortly, incorporating new ideas from our debrief sessions. Of special mention is the great work done for the fair by our newest member, Bil Mikulewicz. Bil helped to re-letter the advertising signs for the fair, he made the fabulous oversized welcoming wall posters that now hang in our Hall.
We’ll begin the new Grange Year in October with a great line up of fascinating programs by our Program Director, John Kriz. The programs planned for the year ahead are varied in topic, and many will be interactive, and most of all they will be opportunities to enjoy and to learn something new. Please note our program schedule and come visit us. Our meetings start at 7 PM with a short business meeting, followed by the program topic.
