Take a trip to the heart of historic Litchfield County, Connecticut and experience the sights and sounds Winchester Center Day on Saturday, September 13th, from 10:30 AM to 2:30 PM.  (Rain Date is September 14th)

Winchester Center is a quaint New England community, complete with tree-lined roads and a town green surrounded by the Congregational Church, Grange Hall and historic homes. The numerous organizations of Winchester Center have each planned events as part of this special community day.  

The town green will come alive for Winchester Center Day with an Antique Car Show, and music in the Gazebo.

The Winchester Center Congregational Church, established in 1771, will host an open house with guided tours showcasing their history, children's games and activities and more. 

Winchester Grange will host a Craft and Gift Sale with over 20 vendors inside the Grange Hall from 10:00 AM - 3:00 PM. The Winchester Grange 125th Anniversary Commemorative Recipe Book will also be available for purchase at the Grange Hall.

The Winchester Center Historical Association will have it's museum open throughout the day, giving tours of the Old Chapel with many items on display, and will be showcasing a cider press demonstration serving freshly made apple cider.  While visiting the museum, be sure to note the old chimney which marks the home of the first settler, Caleb Beach, in 1750.  The Historical Association is a volunteer organization with members working to promote awareness of the area's rich history.

The Winchester Center Volunteer Fire Department, organized in 1948, located behind the Grange Hall, will be participating in the festivities by having its firetrucks on display, and a firefighting foam demonstration.

Food will be available for purchase throughout the day at the Church, the Grange Hall, and the Historical Association.

The small village of Winchester Center lies about 4 miles southwest of Winsted, or approximately 6 miles northeast of Torrington, at the intersection of Route 263 and Newfield Road. A rain date for Winchester Center Day has been set for Sunday, September 15th.
