JULY 11, 2014 -- We held our Fishing Derby, at the Quinebaug Trout Hatchery Pond, in Central Village. We enjoyed hot dogs cooked over an open fine, and potato salad, watermelon and chips. Everything seems to taste better outside! Brianna caught the longest trout, at 12 inches, and Jared caught the second longest one who stretched just over 11 inches. We even roasted Brianna’s trout. She had never tried trout before, and as we had the supplies needed, it was cooked. (She wasn’t impressed, but, she DID try it.) The Windham County Trailblazers joined us for a fun time.
At our June meeting, we voted to give each of Ekonk’s Drill Team $25.00, towards their expenses. All 8 members are, or were Ekonk Junior members! We will be rooting for Katie, Jaimie, Clifford, Trevor, Carly, Emily, Maria, and Lillian. They have a pretty young team! Katie is GOING to be 20, and she is the oldest! Lillian is the youngest at 9. GO TEAM!
We voted to have an activity table at the Sterling Public Library’s “Kick-Off Summer Reading Celebration”. This year’s reading theme is: “Fizz, Boom, Read”. We will have a free activity for children, and information about our Grange.
We elected officers at our June meeting. Congratulations to Alisa Bessette as President, Evelyn Dexter Vice President, Natasha Ignacio Program Director, Allyson DiNola Steward, Abbigail Dexter Assistant Steward, Brianna Gervais Lady Assistant Steward, Jenna Wesa Chaplain, Lillian Sharpe Secretary, and Kayla Bonin as Greeter. Yea! 2014-15 should prove to be an exciting year!
Enjoy your summer! |
