MAY 1, 2014 -- The “Luck of the Irish” was with us in March with a corned beef and cabbage dinner complete with Irish soda bread. We were able to find butter from the old sod! (The Irish Dairy Board with offices in Edmonton, IL markets the butter under Kerry Gold and Irish Gold labels). The evening was capped off with a rendition of the music of Ireland and a presentation by Irish step dancers.
At our regular meeting, we continued our activities planning. Three new members were taken in via the Welcoming Ceremony. They are Cornelia Olsen, Shelley Walker and Sam Walker. Special programs and having trees included in our demo gardens were also discussed.
Eric Frisk, our Master, took the Fifth Degree at Fairfield County Pomona’s meeting on April 2nd. Bro. Frisk is an active speaker with area garden and library groups and is enrolled in the Master Gardener Program.
