Harmony Grange News for May

By George Ward

  MAY 1, 2014 --

Our Secretary, Susan Sulier, who suffered a serious eye injury is improving. She was at one of our recent planning meeting.

We have scheduled our tag and bake sale for May 3. We have decided to sell slices of pizza at noon instead of hot dogs for a change. If the choice is not successful, we can always go back to selling hot dogs. We will also be selling bottled water, chips, soda, coffee, etc. Venders will be invited.

Our next big event will be our Agricultural Fair in August. Vegetables, plants. crafts, needleworks crafts etc will be requested for judging. We will invite local farmers, nurseries, and venders to demonstrate their products and we will invite students from the Agricultural School in Trumbull fof some sort of a demonstration. The now extinct Trumbull Grange contributed money to the school for several years. Food will be available.

In either September or October we will celebrate the 125 year anniversary of Harmony Grange. We expect to have the Historian for the Town of Monroe as our main speaker. The program will include music and dancers. The meeting will be an open meeting held on Sunday and the public will be invited. Refreshments will be served.

By the first part of May, the peas and other seeds should have been planted.

May 9:  Regular and Program Meeting.
