MARCH 16, 2014 -- The next meeting of Mountain County Pomona will be held on SATURDAY, March 22 beginning at 4 P.M. with a potluck supper at Riverton Grange Hall. Due to the work commitments of many officers, the by-laws were changed moving the day meeting traditionally held on the third Wednesday morning to the third Saturday of March. Hopefully this new day will allow for a relaxed meeting and meal and hopefully more guests will be able to join us as well.
The last meeting of the Pomona was held at Eureka Grange Hall on Feb. 11. Rather than a Lecturer’s program, the State Mater presented the Pomona School of Instruction. The theme this year is a discussion on the purpose and future of Pomona as a level in our organization. This was the third Pomona School (of 8) and the third unique discussion on the subject. While many members voiced their opinion that Pomona serves a valuable purpose as a social gathering place of the Community Granges, many others voiced concern over any consolidation efforts and the need to focus on the growth of Community Granges. It will be interesting to see how the remaining schools pan out.
Our Pomona Lecturer’s Programs are now in the hands of the Lecturers of the Granges we visit, so the next program will be presented by Riverton Grange…. “Glad It’s Spring”—don’t know there will be anyone who will NOT be glad! Join us!
