MARCH 1, 2014 -- Hillstown Grange is 'Going Green' on March 8, 2014 from 8 am to 11 am with a 'green' pancake breakfast using real plates, cups, forks and napkins made from recycled paper. We will have 'green' toppings and 'green' tea for Saint Patrick's Day. We are washing the plates, composting the waste or feeding the goats, - our goal is nothing in the garbage can. Take a break from the winter blahs and come relax and enjoy pancakes, sausage, bottomless cups of coffee, tea and juice for just $5, extra sausage just 25 cents each; children under 10 just $3. Special "kid-cakes" will be available with green chips.
Then, to continue going green, along with breakfast we will be holding a garden sit and chat with a freehill seed exchange so we can start preparing for the start of the 2014 gardening season. If you have any old or extra seeds, seed catalogs, gardening books bring them with you to share and to add to your garden this year. The Agricultural Committee plans to announce this year’s special gardening contests and free seeds will be available. Great for novice or first time gardeners to learn from the old pros.
Remember, in a couple of weeks we can plant our peas!
The Hillstown Grange is located at 617 Hills Street, East Hartford, CT. The Grange is located in the Hillstown corner of East Hartford, Glastonbury, and Manchester since 1888. The Grange is the oldest Agricultural group in the United States.
