FEBRUARY 1, 2014 -- On February 8, 2014, the Hillstown Grange will be holding a Pancake Breakfast from 8am to noon. Take a break from the winter blahs and come relax and enjoy pancakes , sausage, bottomless cups of coffee, tea and juice for just $5; children under 10 just $3. Special “kid-cakes” will be available with chocolate chips or strawberries. This month we want to talk “Gardening” stop in to read the seed catalogs, talk and dream of spring and summer gardening with our members and quests.
The Hillstown Grange has recently replaced our roof and this is a fundraiser to help us pay off the roof loan so please come to eat or just visit the historic Hillstown Grange Hall. Hillstown Grange is located at 617 Hills Street, East Hartford, CT. Located in the Hillstown corner of East Hartford, Glastonbury, and Manchester since 1888. The Grange is one of the oldest Agricultural and Community Service groups in the United States. Snow date is March 8, 2014. The Hillstown Grange is combining supper and winter gardening on Thursday February 27, 2014 at 6 pm. We are starting off with a salad supper with lettuce grown in East Hartford and Glastonbury at area aquaponic farms.
After supper the founders of FRESH Farm Aquaponics, LLC will talk about aquaponic farming and how home owners can start their own small scale greenhouse farm for year round vegatables.
