OCTOBER 7, 2013 -- Well, it’s over! Winchester Center Day went off without a hitch on Sat., Sept. 14. All four organizations (Church, Grange, Historical Assoc. and the Fire Dept.) had exceptional offerings for the day and turnout was beyond anything we could have anticipated.
The Grange sponsored a Craft Fair and Coloring Contest along with sales of homemade Apple Crisp and our popular hot dog stand. Apple Crisp sales were steady all day long and the hot dogs sold out twice with the last one sold at the stroke of 2:30 (the end of the event). Planning is already underway for the 2014 event which will be even better than this year!
The success of Winchester Center Day has also sparked a renewed interest in cooperation between the organizations, especially the Grange and the Winchester Center Congregational Church. A couple of events are in the works for late fall and early spring. More on this as plans firm up.
Our popular Fall Super Prize Party will be held on Friday, Oct. 11. As always, doors open at 6:00 and the drawing of prizes begins at 7. Cards of tickets (27 each card) are $1 each-- a great bargain for some really great prizes! Please join us.
Our 125th Anniversary Cookbook is SOLD OUT! But don’t despair-- a new supply of cookbooks will be available just in time for sale at State Session, the Holiday Craft Bazaar & Cookie Walk in November and for all of your gift giving needs.
There were a couple of errors in the first edition that will be corrected in the new edition. The cookbooks are just $12 and a great gift for your friends and family or just for yourself. Call (860) 626-0326 or email info@WinchesterGrange.org for more information.
