AUGUST 16, 2013 -- It's time once again for the annual Cannon Grange Agricultural Fair in Wilton.
This year, the 81st edition, will be from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 18, rain or shine, at the Grange, 25 Cannon Road.
Each summer, the Cannon Grange hosts an authentic agricultural fair that brings the community together. The event is complete with judged exhibits in bakery, locally grown fruits and vegetables, flowers, sewing and needlework, crafts, photography, eggs, homemade beer and wine and farm animals. Ribbons are awarded for first, second, third and honorable mention placings.
The event also includes games and face-painting for children, local musical entertainment and a variety of food. No alcoholic beverages are served or consumed on the premises.
There also will be the annual rubber duck race along the Norwalk River that fronts the Grange property. Proceeds from the race support local charities.
Numerous vendors will be on hand, selling a range of items, including jewelry, baked goods and wares from local craftsmen.
Organized in 1899, the Cannon Grange No.152, has its roots in the rural and agricultural history of Wilton. It is a community-based organization that seeks to provide community service, fellowship, and family activities. |
