JULY 26, 2013 -- Local yoga instructor Jen Zako will lead a series of classes at Weston’s Norfield Grange, which started Monday, July 22nd.
Zako, a certified yoga instructor, started the practice more than 20 years ago after she was diagnosed with chronic fatigue syndrome and fibromyalgia. She credits yoga with helping her maintain her health, and started Yoga Remedy to help others achieve the same benefits.
“Jen strongly believes that practicing yoga can dramatically improve the quality of people’s lives,” her website reads. “She is grateful to share the gifts of yoga and teaches with a focus on breath, alignment and finding balance both on and off the mat.”
The classes at Norfield Grange will focus on vinyasa yoga, a discipline that focuses on proper postures and breathing techniques. The method can have cardiovascular benefits, as well as increase muscle strength and flexibility and reduce stress, Zako says.
The classes will have three differnet levels of difficulty. “Basics” will teaches fundamentals for both beginners and more advanced students. “Gentle” is designed for those with who want a class that is less demanding physically. “Open Vinyasa,” is for those interested in more of a workout, but still is accessible to beginners.
Zako will teach two sessions per day each Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at the Norfield Grange from July 22 through Sept. 6. Sessions start at 9 a.m. and 10:30 a.m.
The first lesson is free, and each session after is $18, with discounts for bulk packages. Yoga Remedy also offers private sessions and corporate packages. For more information, visit Zako’s website.
