Bridgewater Grange News for June

By Dean Perry

  JUNE 6, 2013 --

We are back in our Grange Hall which is closed during the winter from the second week in December until the end of March. We are very grateful for St Marks Episcopal Church , which happens to be next door, for the use of their facility.  We had all our regular monthly meetings although one was delayed because of bad weather.

We delivered Easter flowers to shut ins on the week before Easter and we held an Easter egg hunt on March 30th.

In April we had out first monthly meeting in our hall on April 17th. On April 24th we had a clean up of the hall. On April 26th we had our annual Community Service Award dinner. There was a potluck supper at 6:30 followed by an award given to the Bridgewater and Roxbury Garden Club. Fran Bednar, the president of the club, accepted the award. There were over 35 people in attendance.

As of this writing, the second week in May promises to be a busy week for us. We will be preparing our Grange and the hall for a big meeting on Wednesday May 8th followed by our first roast beef dinner on Saturday May 11th. The roast beef dinners have been very popular and the hootenanny which follows the dinner is becoming very popular also.  Our lecturer Jeff Case brings in a diverse group of friends and musicians for some very good music. You get folk songs, country songs, Johnny Cash, Bob Dylan, Van Morrison and the Grateful Dead.
