APRIL 6, 2013 -- As of this writing, we have the names of 21 potential Grangers and most likely in April we will hold our second Membership Drive Luncheon! Our Youth have begun rehearsing their Drill for 2013 and we wish them lots of luck! David Griffiths proposed our participation in the Last Green Valley River Clean Up program and this will take place this Spring. We donated boxes of non-perishable foods to a Senior couple and a mother with two young children before Easter (and included meats of course).
We voted to have a booth at the 2nd Annual Eastern Regional Carnival for a Cure at Brooklyn Fairgrounds May 10th-12th. We will serve strawberry shortcake and huge cookies. We voted to have 25 new Grange aprons made; the last order was ten years ago-they served us very well!
We voted to purchase 2013 Grange manuals for each officer. We will confer the 1st Degree as soon as the team is well prepared. We served a roast beef dinner for the new Voluntown Farm Chemical Company and many hungry farmers enjoyed the meal and our homemade pies!
Clifford and Trevor Gervais and Sue Gray will travel to the Kelley Farm July 10th where Clifford will be part of the 1st Degree Team conferring the ritual of 1873 in period costume in the farm fields our Grange Founder, Oliver Hudson Kelley, farmed when the Grange was founded. You are always welcome to the Grange on the hill!
