APRIL 11, 2013 -- Our February meeting highlighted initial planning for our Annual Fair. The tentative date has been set for September 14th. We had a presentation on using hydroponic sprouting of barley for use as fodder for feeding livestock including poultry. If grown for no more than 7 days, no fertilizer is required. This type of system can “expand” the amount of livestock that can be on a given size of farm. Even where land size ordinarily is not an issue, it could be of great importance in drought situations.
We will continue planning our summer activities at our April meeting. All of our Grange friends are welcome at our meetings and activities.
